Dos, Drinks, and Dips: Sassoon Salon Party

Last night, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a party hosted by Citysearch at Sassoon Salon in Boston that included complimentary treatments and styling, appetizers from City Table, and drinks provided by Aquavit and  Karlsson’s Vodka.

When we arrived, the stylists started us off with a consultation and talked to each of us individually about cut and color options. My stylist Julie suggested chopping off four to six inches and adding some layers to create volume. I’m liking that idea. After the consults, it was off to washing and treatments.

In between washing and styling, we nibbled on appetizers from City Table, located in the Lenox Hotel. Bites included Tuna Tartare with cucumber, avocado, papaya, soy lime dressing; Cuban Sandwiches with braised spicy pork, salami, ham, Swiss cheese, house made pickle, and chipotle mayo;

and a spicy Whipped Feta and Roasted Pepper dip with grilled pita. Check out the rest of the City Table menu here.

We were also lucky enough to sample Aquavit Vodka as well as Karlsson’s Vodka, which is made in Sweden and distilled from 100% Virgin New Potatoes. I didn’t try it on its own, but Christine says it’s the only vodka she’ll drink straight up.

They had it mixed into various drinks, including bloody mary, daiquiri, and one that combines the vodka with dill and black pepper but whose name I can’t remember. I had the daiquiri and as someone who is not a huge vodka fan, I can say this one was refreshing and went down smoothly. It was lightly sweet but not cloying and you could still taste the vodka. The fabulous Sassoon staff then treated us to styling and blowouts.

And lastly, professional makeovers done by makeup artists Dani Wagener and Tavi de la Rosa.

Michelle and her sassy waves.

And as if the evening couldn’t get any better, each of us walked away last night with sweet swag bag filled with a bottle of Karlsson’s Gold Vodka, hair care products, a nifty cosmetics case, and a discount on services for when we return to Sassoon.

A tremendous thank you to Sassoon Salon and Citysearch Boston for organizing the event. I am seriously considering returning to Sassoon to get layers added, and with our discount, it’s definitely an offer that’s hard to pass up.

    Love this! Probably one of my favorite Citysearch events so far. I esp. enjoyed the conversation about putting diamonds on your hooha (*cough*Christine*cough*) while feasting on a light snack of pita & vodka 🙂

    See you at the next event ladies!

  3. Michelle says:
