Dough Raise Me Brownies

Dave’s Fresh Pasta is a favorite store of mine for many reasons, not the least of which are their excellent pastas and extensive cheese collection. DFP is also a gem of a shop because of their varied selection of locally-made products, specifically baked goods. DFP is where I first spotted The Chocolate Tarte‘s mini cupcakes long before Linda had a storefront. They also carry Buttergirl Baking‘s cookies and brownies, rich morsels made right in Somerville. I’d been eyeing the Dough Raise Me Chocolate Chunk Brownie by the checkout counter for months and finally gave in a few weeks ago.

The chocolate chunks are Taza chocolate. The brownie itself emulates all of the qualities of Taza chocolate, rich, strong, and only moderately sweet. The brownies come two to a package and you should definitely plan on sharing with a friend or saving one for later. They are DENSE and with a texture and richness that verges on pure fudge. I looked up Dough Raise Me online after trying the brownie only to find that the Amesbury-based company makes a whole host of decadent bars, cookies, whoopie pies and more. If these treats are anything like the chocolate chunk brownie, then I am on a mission to locate them.
